What is OPTIFAST®: a blog for our physician colleagues - Peel Weight Loss Clinic Blog
We have received numerous inquiries and referrals from primary care physicians regarding our OPTIFAST® Program. Although the program has been around for a long time, many doctors have not been informed about the remarkable weight-loss benefits of this medical meal replacement therapy. This blog is addressed to those in health care who strive to improve the lives of their patients who struggle with their weight.
With Obesity rates on the rise, you are most likely seeing more and more patients in your practice with a BMI over 35, or those with a BMI of 30 with co-morbidities. Many of these patients have probably tried a number of ways to lose weight and have not been able to sustain the weight loss. They may be suffering with high blood pressure, diabetes or pre-diabetes, elevated blood lipids, immobility and/or psychosocial issues.

These patients may benefit from an evidence-based, medically managed weight loss program that we offer at PEEL WEIGHT LOSS CLINIC (PWL).

This OPTIFAST® Core program used at PWL has been used successfully in Canada for over 20 years and has helped thousands of patients attain a healthier weight. The OPTIFAST® program combines medical monitoring through a multidisciplinary medical team, lifestyle education, behavioural modification and a high-protein, complete nutrition, low-calorie diet meal replacement that has been shown to support safe, effective and sustainable weight loss. Clinical studies using the OPTIFAST® comprehensive weight management program have shown positive results with a 14-20% average weight loss.1-3

Peel Weight Loss Clinic proudly offers the OPTIFAST® Core program and we would be pleased to accept new patients for an assessment of suitability for treatment.

Please see the referral form on our “Contact” page or send us an email.  Our three bariatric trained doctors would be happy to chat with you on the phone or via e-mail if you have any questions. If you would like educational material for your patients we would happily mail them to you.

I look forward to the opportunity to work with you to deliver a safe, evidence-based approach to weight management for your patients.
